Week 2 of 2012

Ah, week 2.

I didn’t run as much as I wanted to (or should have).

I hate having excuses, but I have a minimum sleep threshold, I go below it (and it’s 4 consecutive hours of sleep) and my running suffers. We had a few days this week of 2 toddlers not sleeping (both sick) both in our bed, both wanting mommy cuddles, but in our queen bed, it’s hard.

We really need a king sized bed, like we had in Florida - see room for everyone:

January 8 - walked 5km (ladies walk night)

January 9 - 6K run

January 10 - 5k walk and weights with the Wanker

January 11 - Nothing, too depressed from visit with Wanker

January 13 -Nothing, little girl getting sick, sleep evades me.

January 14 - Massive hangover.

Weight: 150, down 1 pound. So week two, not as successful but week 3 is off to a strong start with 30 minutes weights and 20 minutes on the elliptical!

Mothers Who Need Wine

* I can’t believe that tumblr completely ate my WIAW post, it took forever to upload all those photos and I just don’t have time to do it all over again.

* I went back to see the trainer yesterday who will now be known as the wanker-who-tried to-make-me-jump-rope-in-front-of-20-people. After 30 seconds (and a few embarrassing leaks, I refused and asked for an alternative exercise, told me that “you must be in really bad shape”).  Loudly, in a “I’m a big trainer and your a fattie way” so that everyone can hear, and stare. Which they did. Full rant about Premier Fitness will come after I actually get to work out there on my own on Sunday (and I will be sending a formal complaint about the Wanker).

*Next week starts the “official training for my first half marathon week”.

*Am looking forward to the first official meeting of the mothers who Need wine club* tomorrow night, 4 of us will be gathering to do this:

(I won’t really get drunk, I gotta run 10K tomorrow).

My Contribution to the night:

*This isn’t to say I’m not grateful to be a mother, or that I actually “need wine” to get through the day, I don’t, I love the twins, but a woman can love her twins and love wine too.

WIAW on Thursday

SIgh, I hate tumblr when it eats my posts.

Measuring up

I joined a gym. Well, it’s only 3 months pass purchased on living social, but, I LOVE lifting weights, and going to the gym. Such a huge fan.

When having the “what would you do if you won millions conversation”, I always say join a great gym and go every day. Which would mean I would need “people” to do all my at home work.

As we didn’t win any money, I am stuck with just 3 months to get all my gym fun in. I have a full post prepped reviewing this gym (so far, it has not been a good experience), but, they did take all my measurements (incorrectly) and inform me that I’m obese with an unhealthy body fat percentage (33%), they are recommending that I get it down to 20% (something that can only be done with a 1 year gym membership, interesting sales pitch).

So, here are my correct measurements:

Weight: 152

Chest: 36

Waist: 30.5

Hips: 40

Arms: 11.5 (same each arm)

Thigh: left: 23, Right, 22

Calf’s: 14 (same each side)

(grainy photo booth “before” picture)

My goal: Pre-fertility treatments me, was healthy, happy and looked like this.

Week 1 of 2012

With today being the official end of week 1 of 2012, I can say it has been a good week for running!

January 1,2012 - 3.12K run, the first run in the winter, it was gross outside, wet, cold, but I ran anyway!

January 2, 2012 - 8.45K run

January 4, 2012 - 5.12K run

January 6, 2012 - 6.31K run (first run pushing those two “little” ones, forgot how hard it is to push 28 pounds of stroller plus over 50 pounds of baby).

January 7, 2012 - 4k family walk!

All this, and one sick little boy too!

First run of 2012 in a wet windy Toronto day.

2012: the year of the vegetable?

Firstly, I need to reveal my great deals that I found boxing day shopping at lululemon, a great new running hat (to replace ugly green running hat) and a great new running sweater:

(Sorry for the crappy photo booth pic)

I have never done New Years resolutions, I never really understood the need to make a radical change on one specific day(that will only last a few weeks).

This year, I have decided to break tradition and allow the beginning of a New Year to be the beginning of a new way of eating.

What I’m calling 99% Veggies.

Yes, I will still have dairy (yogurt/cheese), and fish (I am a Newfoundlander after all), but, cow, pork, poultry, etc. will be 99% removed from my diet.

It’s not a foreign idea for me, and when I have been my healthiest in the past, I have been mostly vegetarian.

The truth is when I eat animal I feel slowed down, sluggish, like I’m carry dead weight.

That just can’t be good for me or my kids.

So starting January 1, 2012, we welcome a new year of healthier eating!

1 note

Everything I have ever wanted, I already have.

Christmas is, for a lot of people, a time for gifts.

For giving and receiving stuff.

And some stuff is nice, especially lululemon stuff.

But in May 2010, after a long battle with infertility, I received everything I have ever wanted.

As I write this email, my two little runners are downstairs chatting with each other, playing and giggling.

My little family complete, and I’m so grateful.

Rapidly approaching Christmas

We are Christmas slackers.

Our tree, still outside in the backyard (we’re cutting down a tree that I despise in our garden).

Our decorations, still in the box under the stairs.

Our shopping, not done, well, not even started.

But, we have a great excuse, 5 lovely days in warm sunny florida!
